So, What is Project Management?
While project management is a career in and of itself, it isn't confined to a job title; it's a valuable life skill that we often employ without realizing it. Think about it for a second—have you ever had friends over to your place for a dinner party? Congratulations, you're already a project manager.
When you decide to host a dinner party, you're essentially launching a project. You have a specific goal—to create a great vibe with a delicious meal that you will share with your friends. You make a mental checklist of what needs to be done, from choosing the menu (scope) and setting a date (timeline) to shopping for ingredients (resources) and sending out invites (communication). Even dealing with unexpected issues, like a surprise vegetarian guest, is part of the project manager's job.
By recognizing these everyday scenarios as projects, you'll start to appreciate that project management is something we do naturally. It's about setting objectives, allocating resources, managing constraints, and adapting to change regardless of the nature of what you are working on.
Week by week we will delve deeper into concepts related to project management, so continue rocking me with and together we will explore art of project management.
